Migrating a LIF
You can migrate a data LIF to a different port on the same node or a different node within the cluster, if the port is either faulty or requires maintenance.
Before you begin 
•
All the nodes in the cluster must be running Data ONTAP 8.2.1 or later.
•
The destination node and ports must be operational and must be able to access the same network as the source port.
•
The role of the destination port must be of type data.
About this task 
•
You must migrate LIFs hosted on the ports belonging to a NIC to other ports in the cluster before removing the NIC from the node.
•
You cannot migrate iSCSI or FC LIFs.
Steps 
1.
From the home page, double-click the appropriate storage system.
2.
Expand the Storage Virtual Machines hierarchy in the left navigation pane.
3.
In the navigation pane, select the Storage Virtual Machine (SVM) and click Configuration > Network Interfaces.
4.
Select the interface that you want to migrate and click Migrate.
5.
In the Select Network Port dialog box, select the destination port to which you want to migrate the LIF.
6.
Select the Migrate Permanently check box to set the destination port as the new home node for the LIF.
7.
Click Migrate.
